Brasil sediará Fórum Global das Energias Renováveis

Encontro será em Foz do Iguaçu, do dia 18 ao dia 20 de maio. Serão abordados o desenvolvimento de novas fontes geradoras no contexto das mudanças climáticas

O Brasil vai sediar o Fórum Global de Energias Renováveis (Brasil+2008) no próximo mês de maio. A realização do evento será em Foz do Iguaçu, entre os dias 18 e 20, e está a cargo da Itaipu Binacional, em parceria com a Organização das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento Industrial (Onudi). O encontro vai reunir alguns dos principais executivos de empresas e de instituições internacionais no campo da energia, além especialistas de renome mundial nessa área. Serão debatidos, entre outros temas, os grandes aproveitamentos hidrelétricos, os biocombustíveis e a geração por meio de energia solar, biomassa e eólica, no contexto das mudanças climáticas e do declínio dos combustíveis fósseis.

A cerimônia de abertura será no dia 18 de maio, às 18h30, e deverá contar com as presenças do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, da ministra da Casa Civil, Dilma Roussef, do ministro das Minas e Energia, Edison Lobão, do secretário geral da Cúpula Íbero-americana, Enrique Iglesias, do diretor-geral da Organização das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento Industrial (Onudi), Kandeh Yumkella, do ministro do Desenvolvimento, Miguel Jorge, do presidente da Eletrobrás, José Antonio Muniz Lopes, do diretor-geral brasileiro da Itaipu, Jorge Samek, e do diretor-geral paraguaio Ramón Romero Roa.

Pela programação, as conferências ocorrerão ao longo da segunda (19) e terça-feira (20).O encerramento será com uma visita técnica à hidrelétrica de Itaipu. Estarão representadas instituições como o Painel Inter-governamental de Mudanças Climáticas (IPCC), a Agência Internacional de Energia Atômica, a Agência Internacional de Energia, a Organização das Nações Unidas, a Rede de Políticas de Energias Renováveis para o Século 21 (REN 21), a Associação Internacional de Hidroeletricidade, entre outras.

O presidente da Petrobrás, José Sérgio Gabrielli de Azevedo, é esperado para um debate sobre “As condições de mercado das energias renováveis versus combustíveis fósseis”, temática que também reunirá o presidente da British Petroleum, Peter Sutherland, e a CEO do Global Environment Facility (GEF), Monique Barbut. Outro debate de destaque é o que trata das “Ligações entre as mudanças climáticas, segurança energética e as energias renováveis”, que contará com a participação do presidente do Conselho Mundial de Energias Renováveis, o parlamentar alemão Herman Scheer. Ambos ocorrerão na segunda-feira, 19.

A terça-feira (20) será o dia das mesas redondas específicas sobre cada uma das renováveis: hidroenergia de grande porte, hidroenergia de pequeno porte, energia solar, eólica, biocombustíveis, bioenergia na agroindústria e, por fim, o cenário econômico e financeiro para o desenvolvimento das energias renováveis.

Brazil will host the Global Forum for Renewable Energies (Brasil+2008) next May. The event will take place at the Iguaçu Falls, from May 18th to 20th, and it is under the responsibility of Itaipu Binacional, in partnership with the the United Nations for the Industrial Development (Onudi). The meeting will gather some of the main executives from corporations and international institutions in the energy sector, plus world renowned experts in the area. Among other themes, the great hydroelectric utilization, biofuels and the power generation through solar energy, biomass and eolic will be discussed, in the context of the climate changes and the decline of the fossil fuels.
The opening ceremony will be on May 18th, at 6:00 pm, and it should count with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva presences, Dilma Roussef, Minister of the Civil House, Edison Lobão, Minister of Energy, Secretary General of the Ibero-american Council, Enrique Iglesias, General Director of the United Nations for the Industrial Development (Onudi), Kandeh Yumkella, Miguel Jorge, Minister of Development, the president of Eletrobrás, José Antonio Muniz Lopes, Brazilian General Director of Itaipu, Jorge Samek, and the Paraguayan General Director Ramón Romero Roa.

According to the program, the conferences will happen during Monday (19th) and Tuesday (20th). The event will be closed with a technical visit to Itaipu hydroelectric Power Complex. Institutions will be represented such as the Inter-government Panel of Climate Changes (IPCC), the International Agency of Atomic Energy, the International Agency of Energy, the United Nations, the Network of Policies for Renewable Energies for the 21st Century (REN 21), the International Association of Hydroelectricity, among others.

Petrobrás CEO, José Sérgio Gabrielli de Azevedo, is expected to attend the debate about “The Market Conditions for Renewable Energies versus Fossil Fuels”, theme which will also gather British Petroleum CEO, Peter Sutherland and the CEO for Global Environment Facility (GEF), Monique Barbut. Another important theme to be discussed is “Connections Among the climate changes, energy safety and the renewable energies”, which will count with the participation of the President of the World Council for Renewable Energies, the German parliament member, Herman Scheer. Both will happen on Monday, 19th.

Tuesday (20th) will be the round-table day on each of the renewable sources: large size hydroenergy, small size hydroenergy, solar energy, eolic energy, biofuels, byoenergy in the agribusiness and, finally, the economical and financial scenarios for the development of the renewable energies.
